Danner Park in Vršovice: a short stop beside Ďolíček

This small park beside Ďolíček makes most sense to me as a short stop when I am nearby. Its connection to the stadium’s history caught my attention. The accompanying image is a digital illustration of the park.

Danner Park in Vršovice: a short stop beside Ďolíček

I visited Danner Park in Vršovice for the first time on the evening of 29 September 2026. I was looking forward to it; the weather was clear and 22 °C, and I stayed for about an hour. It is a small city park that makes sense to me mainly as a short stop. I would not travel across the city just for the park, but it is worth noticing if you are nearby.

The park lies between Sportovní, Žitomírská and Oblouková streets in Prague 10, right beside the Ďolíček stadium. It consists of a lawn, mature trees and paved paths. Its size and location suit passing between the surrounding streets or spending a little time outdoors near the stadium. An hour was enough for my first visit.

I find the story behind its name more interesting than its size. Since August 2014, the park has commemorated Zdeněk Danner, the former director of the Vršovice savings bank and one of the people who initiated the construction of the Bohemians stadium. His name is therefore connected directly to the place beside it, rather than being just an arbitrary label on a map. A Bohemians article about the naming of the park gives more detail.

There is also a landscape study for the park’s revitalisation by Atelier Projektor. It describes an urban space close to the stadium and presents a proposed redesign. The available information does not confirm that the proposal was carried out, so I would not judge the park’s present condition from those visualisations.

I give it 3 stars out of 5. I like the trees, the lawn and its connection with Ďolíček’s history. At the same time, it is more a place for people already in the area than a destination for a separate outing. I might return when I am nearby and want to rest outside for a while.
