From Vršovice
My first visit to Bad Flash Bar on Krymská
I went to Bad Flash on Krymská mainly to spend some time with Klára. I did not try the beer this time, so these first impressions cover just a small snack and a break from work. The accompanying image is a digital illustration of the interior.
My first visit to Bad Flash Bar on Krymská
Bad Flash Bar on Krymská is a beer bar and bottle shop with a wide selection of Czech and international beers. On my first visit, though, I only had Hradecké breadsticks for CZK 40, so I cannot review the beer this time. I mainly came to sit and chat with Klára after a day spent working on my website.
The bar is at Krymská 126/2 in Vršovice. The first Bad Flash Bar opened here at the end of 2015. It offers 12 beers on tap, as well as bottled and canned beer. It seems geared mainly towards people who want to choose between different breweries and styles, rather than simply come in for an ordinary lager.
The food menu consists of cold pub snacks. Alongside Hradecké breadsticks for CZK 40, it lists crisps and peanuts for CZK 40, cashews and almonds for CZK 60, pickled sausage for CZK 90 and marinated Camembert for CZK 120. I would not come here to satisfy a big appetite, but there is something small to have with a drink. The breadsticks were exactly the simple snack I wanted that evening.
Beer prices varied considerably in the menu I consulted for my visit. Budvar 33 and Bad Flash Prostě ležák cost CZK 75, Bad Flash Lost Chance CZK 95, and Bad Flash Fanatic NEIPA CZK 129. Kasteel Rouge was CZK 139. There is plenty of choice, but it probably would not be the first option for someone mainly looking for the cheapest beer. I drink little alcohol, so next time I might choose Prostě ležák for CZK 75.
On this first visit, meeting Klára mattered more to me than exploring the bar itself. It was nice to switch off from work for a while, but I do not want to draw a sweeping conclusion about the atmosphere or service from one evening. Nothing in particular bothered me; equally, I have no reason to give the place a higher rating just because of its long beer list.
I would mainly recommend Bad Flash Bar to someone who enjoys craft beer and wants a simple snack. According to the city guide, the bar does not take reservations, which is worth keeping in mind. Its official website and menu are at https://badflash-krymska.cz/.
