My first visit to Pavilon Grébovka in Havlíčkovy sady
On the evening of 2 October 2026, I visited Pavilon Grébovka for the first time. It is a café in a park pavilion in the upper part of Havlíčkovy sady. On my first visit I had draught Kofola for CZK 41 and stayed for just over an hour. For me, it is mainly somewhere to stop while visiting the park.
The pavilion is at Havlíčkovy sady 2188. The building was designed by architect Josef Schulz and served as a garden games pavilion for Moritz Gröbe's guests from the 1870s. It housed a shooting range, a bowling alley and chess tables. The pavilion's complete restoration was finished in 2009. It now houses a café with a glass-walled interior and outdoor seating.
I was quite looking forward to exploring somewhere new. I arrived on my own and ordered just 0.3 litres of draught Kofola. It cost CZK 41, which was also my total bill. It was an overcast evening, with a temperature of 18 °C. Since I did not try coffee or food this time, I cannot judge their taste.
The selection is fairly broad. Alongside coffee and tea, they offer homemade lemonades, wine, beer and mixed drinks. The food menu includes burgers, salads, grilled meat and cheeses, pizza, panini, waffles and pancakes. An espresso costs CZK 71, a cappuccino CZK 77 and a flat white CZK 101. Next time I would probably try the bread with herb butter, avocado and a poached egg for CZK 145.
The café also caters for weddings, celebrations and corporate events. Judging by its location and selection, it suits people wanting to sit in the park, families with children and smaller work gatherings. I give my first visit 4 out of 5. I like the combination of café and park, and I would gladly return to try some of the food.
